Egypt and Martial Law

Egypt is effectively under martial law as Egypt’s highest court declared the parliament invalid and the country’s interim military rulers promptly declared full legislative authority. The court also ruled that former members of the Mubarak government can run for the presidency. It is unclear at this time if the Islamists will take over the country or if a more moderate form of government will rise to power. The current court ruling is having a destabilizing effect on Egypt.

To understand these events from a biblical perspective we must look at several passages. We know that God has judged Egypt’s treatment of Israel in the past even the recent past and caused it to fall in status among the nations. But God is not done with this ancient people and it appears that they will play a dual role both for and against the Lord and His people in the last days.
