Knowing She was a Nun

Sister Marguerite Bartz

Robert Gorence, the defense attorney for Reehahlio Carroll, does not want the jury in his murder trial to know that his victim, Sister Marguerite Bartz, was a nun killed at her convent home on the St. Bernard Parish in Navajo, N.M., just north of Gallup, on Halloween night in 2009. Why? Because this information might enflame the jury. You know what? it is time for some juries to become enflamed. It is time for some judges to desire justice. Just like with a cop killer or a judge killer, if someone breaks into a convent and beats a nun to death with a flashlight, that person must be held even more accountable.

The God we serve is a God of justice. He will always require that wrongs are made right. In His love for us, He weighs carefully everything we do. The trail of Mr. Carroll should be conducted in fear and reverence for the justice that is required. It should be known to the jury that Mr. Carroll murdered a nun in a convent.
