Did Speaker Lujan Want our Kids to Fail?

The New Mexico legislative session has come to an end. Some are calling it a success but there was one issue that did not even get a vote because it would have likely passed.

Retiring House Speaker Ben Lujan allowed the bill passed by the senate to end the social promotion of 3rd graders to just sit and die on the house floor. As with many who hold to the liberal mindset, Mr. Lujan would rather allow New Mexico’s children to become at best mediocre than have a fighting chance on the world stage.

The bible tells us to train up our children. We are to set reasonable and obtainable goals, while giving them the framework they need to succeed. This always requires discipline, and sometimes children must be allowed to fail in order to succeed. While no one wants to see children suffer pain or discomfort, these things are needed to grow strong and healthy. Without challenge our kids will fail, and maybe that is what Mr. Lujan and his companions want to see.
