Coruption in Our State and Country

It’s heartbreaking really. The headlines this week are filled with corruption and sexual misconduct. I know this is not new, but it seems more in your face this go-round. Here is a sampling of this week’s top stories;

• Las Cruces District Court Judge Michael Murphy was indicted on bribery charges to get the post and was appointed by former Gov Bill Richardson.
• Levi Chavez Jr, accused of the murder of his wife, setting the scene to look like a suicide. His uncle former Guadalupe County sheriff Robert Chavez and his father Guadalupe County Emergency Management coordinator Levi Chavez Sr. are also accused of wrongdoing in Levi jr case.
• Socorro County deputy Shawn Baca has been arrested for asking women pulled over for traffic violations to expose themselves
• Jacob Lawler, 32, an elementary school teacher at Edward Gonzales. Sexting an 11 year old girl.
• Dominique Strauss-Kahn president of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) charged with sexual assault
• Former Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger having an extramarital affair resulting in a child.

I have been quoting Amos 5:12 For I know your manifold transgressions And your mighty sins:
Afflicting the just and taking bribes; Diverting the poor from justice at the gate.

    I love the concept of “justice at the gate” and think we can apply it to our hearts as the gates to our actions, motives, and soul.
