Sounding the Trumpet from the Wall

Much of what I write and talk about comes from a passion to see our country be blessed. I would like to write good things about our president. I would like to think that our congress had what was best for America as its agenda. I

May the Lord Bless America

am not happy to discover that our Commander in Chief is more sensitive to the views and opinions held by muslim nations than by his own countrymen. It saddens me to read that he will go to South America and work out a deal to gain oil imports from Brazil, where we sent those off shore oil rigs after the oil crisis, rather than open up oil the rich oil fields of America to create jobs and prosperity.

The president would prefer to defend the perversion of homosexual relationships than to defend the law he swore to uphold. He is not alone. Senate democrats are working, even as you read this, to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). As a preacher, I come against homosexuality pretty hard. It is clearly forbidden in both the Old and New Testaments. As a US citizen, I say just don’t let me know what you’re up to, I don’t want the police dealing with this stuff. But really, I know that the point is to undermine the institution of marriage. The state should never have gotten into the license game anyway, so now it becomes a rights thing, which is just silly. Later, I’ll use my fishing license as a building permit. At least the people are standing up and making their voices heard in places like Maryland.

I get a little down when I hear of judges like Vaughn Walker, who believe they can overturn the will of the people because they think they know better. As the foundation of America is chipped away more each day, it falls on Christians working inside the law, to take a stand. Islam is trying to take advantage of these things and sneak in and take advantage of our first amendment. I don’t want to limit their freedom and I certainly don’t desire a fight. But, I know that their desire is the dominance of Islam above all else. Take this quote from Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna;

“The noble quran appoints the Muslims as guardians over humanity and grants them the right of dominion over the world in order to carry out this sublime commission. It is their duty to establish sovereignty over the world”

This is the prevailing viewpoint among radicals and “moderates” alike. Our president is seen reading a book entitled the “Post American World” and we are told things are getting better as the cost of living is at an all time high, unemployment holding steady at near 10% for what seems like forever. I can relate to Japanese being told all is fine as four nuclear reactors are melting down and the government says its all ok, just stay inside and close the windows.

What is my point? Our help comes from the Lord. He will work His good will for us, if we obey His Word. These problems are not inevitable. While I believe we are in the last days, not everything is spelled out in the Scriptures. There is still an opportunity to choose. As for me and my house, we will choose the Lord. It is time to match our beliefs with our actions. It is time to be doers of the Word, not hearers only. I know that if we stand firm on the truth of God’s words and God’s commands, that if we humble ourselves, He will heal our land. It is never too late for America to be that shinning city on a hill. The question is, will we take the hill?
