Sheen and Gaddafi

I am amazed at the headlines almost daily now. From my perspective it seem as if things have been flipped upside down. That Charlie Sheen and Muammar Gaddafi are the lead stories for days now gives me insight into where things are headed. There have been strange headlines before and there will be again, but to see both of these men self destruct at the same time is bizarre.

Both of them are quite self absorbed and destructive to those around them.Their delusional and let’s face it, crazy behavior is like watching a car wreck and not being able to look away. “Come on!”, we shout, “Turn the wheel! Hit the brakes! Can’t you see what is coming?” They can’t, they have been turned over to a debased mind. I’m not passing judgment here, just making an observation. We tend to think that when it reaches this point, that it is too late. It may be. But not necessarily. For Gaddafi, it may be too late. I doubt his pride would let him loose his country without loosing his life. Charlie, now Charlie could wake up and still turn it around, but he too is so close to the line that it is hard to tell.

It boils down to the same thing. God gives grace to the humble, but resists the proud. Very few people would praise humility as desirable. It doesn’t have the sex appeal of tiger’s blood or a private Mariah Carey concert, but humility brings salvation. The understanding that self reliance is the road to hell.
